The Water and Sanitation Program
The Water and Sanitation Program is an international initiative devoted to addressing the plight of the more than 1 billion people in the world who do not have access to potable water. It sponsors activities such as information campaigns, technical assistance (either through direct project assistance or in policy-making) and research on water and sanitation needs around the world. The site includes a Help Desk where users can direct questions to professionals and practitioners who have had extensive experience in this field.
Development Gateway: Water and Sanitation
The Development Gateway contains an archive of sites on information regarding water and sanitation. It also provides updates on major global conferences, activities and other events focused on improving worldwide access to potable water, building sustainable water supply systems, as well as guidelines for policy reform in the sector.
Global Water Partnership (GWP)
The thrust of the GWP is to promote the sustainable management of water resources through the workshops, conferences and seminars it organizes around this central theme. The site also provides links to information on the water sector.
The International Water and Sanitation Center (IRC)
IRC focuses on the creation, sharing, and use of knowledge on the development of sustainable water and sanitation services, particularly for government and community based organizations that are involved in work with poor communities. Its web site offers a wide-range of resources on the sector, including news on training, advisory and evaluation services, and applied research and learning projects.
Inter WATER Gateway-Your Internet Gateway to Water and Sanitation Information
Inter WATER provides users with a list of organizations and networks involved in the development of water supply and sanitation facilities in developing countries. The site organizes the groups by region and country so users can access information that is most relevant to their situation.

CASE STUDY
A STudy into REsources And Management (STREAM)
of Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Centers
STREAM is a study that contributes to strengthening resource centers as capacity builders in the water and sanitation sector. The study aims to look into in the operation of resource centers in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America towards the formulation of conclusions and recommendations to effectively develop and support such centers in the future. By providing information derived from the experiences of different groups, it is hoped that other communities developing sustainable water projects can draw on the lessons learned by the subjects involved in this study.
SERP-P
or SocioEconomic Research Portal for the Philippines
SERP-P is an online electronic database of completed, ongoing and pipeline
research studies related to economic development and policymaking in the
Philippines. It links various socioeconomic studies implemented by various
research institutions such as the Philippine Institute for Development
Studies (PIDS), government agencies and the academe. At present, only PIDS
studies and selected studies of a few universities and research institutions
are contained in the SERP-P.But the database will be regularly updated to
include the studies of other institutions. All pertinent data from
abstracts, authors, focus of study, geographical coverage, and availability
can be found in the SERP-P. Most of all, researchers can leaf through some
of the studies' full text.

Eldis
Gateway to Development Information
Eldis is a gateway to online information on development in countries of the
South. Hosted by the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex, UK, its
coverage areas include social, economic, political and environmental issues.
Eldis makes a qualititative selection of materials and structures it for
easy access.
